Source One Engages Temple University Students on Procurement Consulting Career Paths

Procurement Consulting Career Advice at Temple University

Willow Grove, PA (March 8, 2016) – Experts from premier Procurement consulting firm, Source One Management Services, will be engaging students from Temple University’s Economic Society on the career opportunities within procurement on March 11th – just as graduation season begins. The speaking event is Source One’s first at Temple University, following the college’s career fair the company sponsored last fall, marking Source One’s strengthening presence as featured thought leaders at respected Philadelphia institutions.

Temple University’s Economic Society is a Student Professional Organization created for both Economics majors and novices with the goal of providing students a better understanding of the discipline as well as opportunities to explore areas of interests and future careers in the field. Each year, the organization plans various events such as guest speakers, networking sessions, and group trips to broaden students’ industry exposure and expand their learning experiences.

Leigh Merz, Source One’s Telecommunications Cost Reduction and Administrative Expense Strategic Sourcing subject matter expert will present to students a look into Procurement Consulting, including how the function supports overarching business goals. The presentation will highlight Source One’s services, with an emphasis on Strategic Sourcing, in supporting clients’ budget and process optimization goals. Shedding light onto career paths in procurement consulting, Merz will also share the day-to-day responsibilities of a project analyst, as well as the skills necessary for success in the role.

“The talent gap in procurement and supply chain management is growing. Companies, including services providers, are experiencing the challenges associated with the lack of much needed talent. In some instances, its a matter of young professionals being unaware of the career opportunities within procurement. “Our goal is to educate students on the different career paths procurement consulting offers, including those at Source One to encourage these future professionals to pursue these important and in-demand roles;” explained Merz.

The presentation at Temple University is among a number of events Source One has lined up this spring. Cost reduction experts from the firm will also be recruiting at Penn State’s Abington campus on April 5th. In May, Source One will be exhibiting and guest speaking at ISM2016 – as Diamond sponsors of the premier supply chain event of the year. Event attendees can stop by Source One’s booth #528 to learn more about the company’s procurement services portfolio and listen to Source One’s VP of Professional Services discuss how to effectively manage a growing contingent procurement workforce as the sourcing function continues to evolve.
