Free e-Sourcing Tool Expands Its Features; Continues To Grow Online Supply Chain Innovation

WhyAbe.com, a free electronic sourcing and supply chain collaboration tool provided by Source One Management Services LLC, has recently expanded its capabilities.

Willow Grove, Pa. (October 22, 2014) WhyAbe.com has released several enhancements to its free e-sourcing system. WhyAbe.com now allows users to import and export data utilizing Microsoft Excel. More specifically, buyers may create multi-line item RFP or reverse auction events semi-automatically by importing event data from Excel, significantly streamlining the RFX process. Similarly, suppliers may download event detail into Excel, work offline to produce their bids and responses, and can upload their responses back through the WhyAbe.com platform. These changes were implemented to enhance the sourcing experience for both buyers and suppliers, making it even easier to manage event and bid details both on and offline.

Additional enhancements now include the ability to export data from WhyAbe’s contract management repository, for those companies looking to migrate to more sophisticated contract lifecycle management solutions. Improved Excel export tools have also been added to allow buyers offline access to historical RFX event details; and additional minor usability improvements have been made throughout the web site.

WhyAbe.com, which was developed in 2005 by leading procurement and strategic sourcing consultants, Source One, is a web-based application that has been helping buyers qualify and solicit information from suppliers. Source One continues to grow the success of WhyAbe.com, regularly providing updates based on the feedback from the suppliers and buyers themselves. Some of the benefits of this new and improved e-sourcing tool include:

Suppliers can now:

Export line items and key event details in bulk to Microsoft Excel

Work offline and populate bids in Excel for RFP opportunities, then upload back into the system

Maintain an original copy in Excel as an audit trail

Buyers can now:

Read, work, and download in Excel, making it easier to integrate with other systems

Create line items in bulk using an Excel template

Work offline if needed and then quickly upload dozens of line items at once

Maintain an original copy in Excel as an audit trail

William Dorn, Source One’s Vice President of Operations stated, “We developed WhyAbe.com nine years ago after being frustrated with existing online sourcing tools costs and useability. As the years pass, we’ve continued to grow the platform so it provides unique sourcing solutions for our clients and thousands of free procurement professional users.”

Source One also announced that historical users of ThomasNet.com’s Purchasing Tool are now able to migrate to the upgraded WhyAbe.com platform at no cost.

WhyAbe.com is free to use and does not require software downloads or licensing agreements. Simply register and start using the tool immediately to browse supplier catalogs, store contracts, conducts RFX and reverse auction events.
